Health Alert: J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine

For Patients and Community Members who Received the Johnson&Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine Administered by Westside

The CDC and FDA are reviewing data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare and serious type of blood clot in individuals who received the J&J/Janssen vaccine. Per the CDC, these adverse events are extremely rare.  Out of an abundance of caution, the CDC and DPH recommended to hold off using the J&J vaccine until the situation has been further assessed.  Westside shares concerns regarding these effects and the recommendation to pause using the J&J/Janssen vaccine at this time.

Contact your health care provider if you develop any of these symptoms within three weeks after receiving your J&J/Janssen vaccine:

  • Severe headache
  • Abdominal pain
  • Leg pain
  • Shortness of breath

If you are experiencing signs and symptoms of a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.
