Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in learning about how you can volunteer at Westside. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, help those in need, meet interesting people, learn new skills and share your expertise.
Special Event Volunteers
Throughout the year, we host several special fundraising events to support our mission. We continue to look for volunteers to provide support before, during, and after the event.
Readers for our Reach Out and Read Program
We host children reading clubs in our health centers’ book nooks. During these reading clubs we encourage our pediatric patients and their parents to participate in the reading while they wait for their appointment. We are always looking for volunteer readers who can spare an hour of their day to read to our youngest pediatric patients.
This volunteer opportunity is part of our Reach Out and Read Program. This program connects health and early childhood literacy. Our providers use children books as a tool to measure developmental milestones and encourage parent engagement. Each child at their routine visit gets to take a book home to build their own library at home.
Hosting a Book Drive
In each of our health centers, we have book nooks filled with gently used children’s books. These nooks are designed for our pediatric patients to enjoy while waiting for their appointment. Children of all ages are encourage to take the books home to build their own libraries at home.
If you are interested in hosting a book drive or donating gently used children’s books, please contact externalaffairs@westsidehealth.org.
Hosting a Hygiene Kit Drive
We care for the migrant and seasonal agricultural worker communities in Kent and western Sussex counties. When the growing season begins, we hand out basic hygiene kits to the workers to ensure they have the towels, soaps, and toothbrushes they need throughout the season.
If you are interested in hosting a hygiene kit drive or donating basic hygiene items, please contact externalaffairs@westsidehealth.org.
