Reach Out and Read Program

Westside Family Healthcare is a participant of the national Reach Out and Read program. This program "makes early literacy a standard part of pediatric primary care" by incorporating books in a patient's well-child visit as a means to measure developmental milestones and promote early literacy. As a part of the program, our doctors and nurses encourage parents to read aloud to their young children while they wait for their well-child check-up. At each well-child visit, children between the ages of six months and five years receive a new, age-appropriate book to keep, with the belief that this will extend reading beyond our office doors. Visit http://www.reachoutandread.org/ for more information regarding the national program.

To donate new or gently used books, to volunteer your time, or if you have any questions regarding our program, please contact Sarah Noonan at 302-655-5576 or Sarah.Noonan@westsidehealth.org.

We treat you well.
